Himdag Ki: is located 8 miles south of Sells in the community of Topawa, Arizona; approximately 60 miles southwest of Tucson; 80 miles south of Casa Grande; and 75 miles southeast of Ajo.

The Museum is closed on all Tohono O’odham Nation government holidays and other special occasions as proclaimed by the Nation. We recommend you call ahead to confirm access.

The Tohono O’odham welcomes you to Himdag Ki:. We appreciate your interest and hope your visit leads to a better understanding and respect for our culture and history.

Tours

All tours are self-guided unless other arrangements are made in advance with Himdag Ki: staff. Large groups (more than 12 visitors) and school groups should call in advance to coordinate their visit with Himdag Ki: staff.

Facilities & Services

American Disabilities Act Compliant – All doors and walkways are ADA compliant. A few wheelchairs are available on-site.

Food & Drinks

No food or drinks (other than water) are allowed in the museum, and there are no food or drink services on-site. Shaded areas and seating are available for picnics on-site.

Parking

Paved parking is available on site and several spaces are available for large tour buses and recreation vehicles. The highways leading to Sells and south on Federal Route 19 are paved. There is a quarter-mile section of unpaved, but graded road between the turnoff from Federal Route 19 to the museum’s parking lot. Please drive with caution to avoid animals and reduce dust pollution.

Border Patrol

Because the Tohono O’odham reservation lands border the United States-Mexico International Boundary, the United States Border Patrol maintains two-vehicle checkpoints on major routes leaving the reservation (Federal Route 15 and Arizona Highway 86).
